Shira Ginsburg is an Invested Cantor currently serving at East End Temple in Manhattan. A graduate of Syracuse University’s Drama and Musical Theatre program, Shira spent a number of years working as a professional actress, singer and songwriter before being invested as Cantor from Hebrew Union College. Shira has performed on stages in Israel, England, and all over the United States. Most recently she has involved herself in productions and concerts that aim to give voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. These performances include the Broadway Benefit for Darfur, Simon Wiesenthal’s Humanitarian Award Ceremony, and “Wallenberg.”
Born and raised in Troy NY on her family’s dairy farm as a second-and-a-half generation Holocaust survivor in an extraordinarily tight knit family, Shira, as you can imagine, has a wealth of stories to draw from. There is nothing more precious in this world to her than her family, and nothing more thrilling than sharing her life stories with you.
